Chat 5 Feb 346 notes Fuckin' Academics...
  • Academic: "Hey can I use your work in my upcoming paper, panel, presentation, or television appearance?"
  • Me: "Which work? Which essay/post? They all have titles and/or links. Let me know which one(s)."
  • Academic: "Well, it's for work on how White privilege does not exist, so I wanted to quote you. Just general work, no specific page."
  • Me: "Well, that is diametrically opposed to what I actually write...because it does exist. My work would not support your claim. And, how can it be 'general work' if you have to create citations? What will you cite in your biblio or references? Anyway, I have a moratorium on academic pilfering at the moment. It causes me a lot of anxiety. So I don't want to discuss this anymore; answer is no."
  • Academic: "Well I can use it anyway. Fair use! That is the LAW!"
  • Me: "Okay, if the law matters to you more than proper citation, which is also the law, more than content accuracy matching your hypothesis, more than my consent and more than my mental health, why did you contact me then? You were going to do what you wanted anyway."
  • Academic: "You should be thrilled your work will get exposure! You have a chip on your shoulder!"
  • Me: "My work gets hundreds of thousands of views a month and thousands of shares. I don't ask for hypervisibility anyway. And literally nobody is gonna read your douchey ass paper in an academic journal, if it even gets approved. Now fuck off."
  • Academic: "I can't believe you would try to silence my work. Clearly you want to set feminism back."
